A track of beads is attached to your natural and aligned with the NATURAL fall of the hair. The wefts are then strategically placed around the beads and the hair is sewn in. This application allows for a comfortable experience when wearing them and a seamless grow out.
How many rows do I need?
1 row is ideal for those whose hair goals are volume and thickness over length. This is a great option for giving your hair light volume and minimal length.
2 rows are the most universally worn. This is ideal for maximum length, fullness and fills in sparse sides.
3 rows are necessary for extremely thick, blunt haircuts, or severely damaged hair. It will provide maximum fullness and maximum length to ensure it blends perfectly all while protecting your natural hair.
How long do extensions take to install?
On average, it can take 4-6 hours depending on the color application and number of rows installed. Extensions are a luxury service and should be treated as such. Rushing this type of service can lead to a bad experience with wearing hair extensions. Plan to bring work & lunch (I do offer light snacks & beverages-here's another perk, Starbucks is right next door) with you so you don't have to use PTO from work. I have clients who bring their laptops, have meetings, and phone calls during their appointments. We all have jobs we have to do mid-day. This does not bother me in the least, in fact, I dare say I work much faster and am able to get into the zone when I'm not talking. ;)
What kind of products do I need to use?
Professional products are recommended to maintain the longevity of your hair extensions. Some of my favorite products are Goldie Locks, Kevin Murphy, & ILES FORMULA as they are safe for color treated hair and hair extensions. They will provide moisture shine, and the nutrients your hair needs.
Will I always have to wear extensions?
Everyone's hair extension journey is different and for different reasons. Some may choose to wear their extensions to the pearly gates, some may choose to take a break, some may wear for special occasions, and some may wear them until they reached their hair goal-be it length or color.
At the end of the day, it is your decision to make. It is your hair and your journey. You decide how long you want to wear them for. I'm just here to install and educate you on the ever-growing knowledge I gain from the classes I take to ensure you have the best hair and best experience.
How do I take care of my hair extensions?
This is a crucial step when wearing extensions. Improper care/neglect can and will lead to short term life span of hair extensions. At the end of your appointment I will go over with you in detail how to care for them, when & how to wash them, how to dry and style them, and what products are safe to use. You will receive a hair extension care guide before your departure to refer back to.
How long will my extensions last?
With proper care extensions can last up to 9-12 months. Believe it or not, I have had clients wear their hair extensions for well over a year. They took VERY good care of the hair in order for this to happen...AND their extensions still looked good considering.
What is a move-up and what does that look like?
A move-up is when the hair extensions grow out with your natural hair and the wefts are no longer close to the scalp. They will feel lighter but still intact as they grow out. A move-up is when we remove the hair extensions, color your natural hair and refresh the extensions as well if needed. Once your hair has colored, we will then re-install them. This service can take anywhere from 4-6 hours depending on services needed.
I've been wearing my hair extensions for a while. How will I know when need a fresh set?
Hair extensions are ethically sourced human hair. You are wearing them every single day. Just like with real hair, even with proper care and maintenance, they will be become weak or thin over a span of time due to wear and tear. I will be able to guide you and inform you along the way of how they are holding up and when it might be a good time to invest in a new set. This is generally around 9 months depending on how active your lifestyle is and how often you're washing them.
What is the investment for hair extensions?
Here is a fun way to break this down:
If you have your hair for 12 months and the cost of the hair is between $1,000-$2,000, it's only costing you between $2.75 and $5.50 a day...cheaper than your daily Starbucks! ;)
All new installs (not move-ups) will receive an intro kit that contains all kinds of goodies to help keep your hair looking fabulous over time.
